Unfinished Table Redo

I have been wanting a new small kitchen table.  So, for Christmas my hubby gave me an unfinished drop-leaf table, moulds and stamps to finish the table.

 Assembly was very easy, just 8 bolts to attach the legs.

I used paper clay and this mould set to add details to the table.

I immediately glued the medallions to the table skirt and legs.  You can see a sneak peak of the stamps I also planned to use.

Then I painted the legs white and the top gray using chalk paint.

When the white paint was dry I went over the raised areas of the medallions with gray to make them pop.

Next I used white chalk paint with the rubber stamps and stamped the top of the table.  I also added gray stripes to the skirt of the table and applied gray to the bottom few inches of the table legs.

I stamped a random medallion pattern to the top.

And the last thing I did was to wax the entire piece.  Love my new little table.

And of course my assistant did her final quality control check.

Rescued Little Table

Wow, we are having our first really long heatwave of the the summer.  So no outside projects this week.

I lost my mother a few years ago and I am just now starting to incorporate some of her things into my home.  

This little table is one of the items I am moving out of storage.  It started out as a beautiful little table, but one day my mom had her window open and the sprinkler accidentally sent water through the window.  She didn't see that it had hit the table.  The backside suffered water damage to the finish.  And the leather top had seen better days, too.  I brought it inside and cleaned it well.  

 I knew one day I would change the finish and here is how I did just that.

I began by turning it upside down on a box to make it a little easier to paint the legs and center column.

On this part of the table I am using a light gray chalk paint.

I painted the trim on the tabletop gray, also.

Next I painted the top and sides with a cream colored chalk paint.

I ended up with a crackle finish on the top.

When the gray was dry I used a dry brush to lightly brush on a silver paint on the tops of the legs, feet and center column.

I ended up using 3 coats on the top of the table and when those where dry I used the gray and silver  and stenciled a medallion in the center.

I painted the inside of the little drawer a pretty shade of aqua and then stenciled another silver/gray medallion in the center of the drawer.

And here it is finished in front of the fireplace.  Now I need to refinish my 2 chairs to match and my little spot for tea will be complete.

Little Blue Green Bedside Table

Last weekend we found this little table at the local Vintage Market.

This little bedside table is very well built, so it was a great find.

I keep finding items is this dark color.  Don't like the color but love the shape and the little drawer at the bottom is so adorable.

I plan to paint the table white to match the bed in the guest room.  Change out the drawer knob and line the drawer with scrapbook papers. 

For me this table's distressing is too much.  So the first thing I did was paint all the edges where the wood is revealed black.  That way when I do my light distressing some of the black will show through instead of raw the wood.

Here you can see the new knob I was trying out.  I think it is a keeper.

I have the first coat of white paint dry and am ready to start the second coat. I have temporarily put square thumbtacks on the bottom of the legs.  This makes it easier to paint and not have the legs stick to the paper beneath on the table while I am painting.

All dry, lightly distressed, and new knob added.

I added a little vintage style postcard to the lower shelf with Mod Podge.  It is all waxed, I will let it set overnight and buff.

Here is a  peek at the inside of the drawer.  I lined it with it with scrapbook paper and gave it a coat of Mod Podge to protect the paper.

Shabby Chic Tray Table Redo

This sad little vintage tole painted table needed some love and care.  It came from Mr. K's family so I felt like I wanted to save it.  This piece would make a really cute shabby chic end table.

There was a lot wrong with it, to start with the front edge was bent and rusted.  The paint had cracked in places.

I straightened the metal tray and gave it a coat of, (you know what's coming) chalk paint, of course, to hide it's many flaws.

Then I added a French graphic from one of the stencils I had ordered off Amazon. Next I decoupaged two Eiffel Tower images from paper napkins to the top.

 When everything was dry I lightly sanded the stenciling and high points of the tray.

That's it, done.  Pretty simple transformation.
