EZ Shabby Paper Angel's Wings

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.  I hope you are all enjoying the day with good food and good family and friends.  Wishing you all a wonderful day.

 Every year I know it is Autumn just looking out my front door at my neighbors tree.  It has the most spectacular red color.

Now for today's post.

I have been seeing angel wings everywhere.  I really like them but have no room for a large set of wings.

 I decided to make a small set of wings out of paper using paper pattern tissue, cardstock and scrapbook paper.

I began by drawing out my wings on cardstock, cut them out then cut my pattern paper tissue into strips about 2 inches wide and as long as I could make them.

Using my hot glue gun I began at the bottom of the wings gluing in rows and pleating as I went to make ruffles.

At the top center I add a medallion of crepe paper first then added a handmade pink crepe paper flower edged with silver glitter and a clear rhinestone .

Next I highlighted the ruffles with white gesso and distressed the edges with brown distress ink.

The back side I covered with scrapbook paper then added seam binding to hang the wings.

These measure about 10'" X 12".

Trio of Altered Fairy Burlap Canvases

I found a pack of three burlap canvases that where just asking to be altered.

I have had this idea for some time.

I found these fairies on Pinterest and went to town adding all kinds of details and bling to these canvases.

I made the crown, fleur d Lis and bee by filling silicone molds with hot glue.  When it was cool I popped the out of the mold.  Painted them black and then highlighted with gold Rub N Buff.

I accordion folded all their skirts to make them 3 dimensional.  Each fairy is glued on an image of a vintage doorway from Pinterest and tore the edges before gluing to the canvases.

Lots of bling.

Shabby Chic Lace Wreath

What to do with all my little pieces of lace left over from other projects?

How about a shabby chic wreath?

I started with a plain 12" Styrofoam wreath and began hot gluing each piece of lace to the wreath form wrapping around until the end of one piece and adding the next. Continued with a different lace until the entire form was covered.

When the wreath was completely covered I added handmade shabby flowers and a chiffon bow with a  center I made from blue and white faux pearls. Then added a little Eiffel Tower tag for one of my favorite shop that sell so many cute paper pieces.

I Wanted a Hot Pink Necklace

So, again off to the bead store.  

Not an easy color to find.  I did find the small bright pink beads there. 

Then went to my bead stash for the rest of the beads. 

The focal bead with the crown and clock face was at Micheal's in the sale bin.  Don"t you love those sale areas?  Never know what you will come across.  

The focal piece is actually an oriental coin with a hole in the center.  I glued the clock face to the front of the coin with jewelry glue.

Then I made a pair of matching earrings.  Now I have a set to match my wild colored animal printed top.

More Fun Finds

 I love to collect vintage clear glass and crystal and these where gorgeous. The little bowl and picture was only $1.50 and all the other pieces where even less.

This was the find of the day.  Beautiful crystal vase over a foot tall for only $3.00.  One of the stores was having a half price sale.  My lucky day.

And, lastly this handmade basket was so interesting.

Looks to be made from grasses and palm fronds with several pods hanging from the side.

And best of all only $1.50, wow.

I wish I knew the history of this piece. 

 I am thinking for Christmas I might fill it with pinecones and add a ribbon to the handle.

It is pretty large and I have a whole lot of small pinecones that would fill it nicely.

Estate Sale and Second Shop Finds

Went to a couple second hand stores and an estate sale last weekend. The estate sale was at a house I drive past every year at Apple Hill time.  It always looked so cozy in amongst the tall pine trees.  So sad to see everything being sold off.  But I was happy to see the items being going to new loving homes.  So many times I have seen the children come in and just hall everything to the dump that their parents had loved and collected.

First, I found these 2 rubber stamps at one shop.  Love the vintage feel of them. Also the Fitz and Floyd creamer and sugar, crystal salt and pepper shakers.

Hard to see in this photo, but the books on the end are a pictures frame with a hidden box. The little jewelry dox has earring storage on the top section and ring storage in the drawer.

Everything I bought was under $3.00, most was $.50 or $1.00.  Really loved my finds this trip.  The jewelry box and book frame will get a make over, later. 

I just fell in love with these rubber stamps.  Have already used them on an altered book I am working on.  Stay tuned to see where I used them.

The little metal urns where only $.25, the mirror and the large urn will also get make overs. The cake server matches a set of gold silverware I use for the Holidays.

This little mirror came from the estate sale.  So Shabby Chic.  I think I will give it a little bit of a white wash.

Somedays you can go to garage sales and second hand stores and find nothing and the next time out come home with a car load.  Just never know.  This was just a great weekend for finds.
