Angel Statue Gets New Wings

I found this angel I thought would look nice standing in the hallway.  The only problem was she had lost her wings and had several chips in her finish.  She stands a couple of feet tall.

Not the prettiest face.

The first thing I did was to form a piece of wire, I had left over from another project, into the shape of a pair of wings.  Next I covered both sides of the wire with a piece of lace using hot glue to attach the lace.

I then painted the entire piece white. Her cheeks and the heart in her hands I painted very pale pink and hot glued the wings to the bracket on her back.

She is so calm and pretty now.

And here she is elegantly standing at the end of our hallway with her new wings.

Angel candlesticks

While cleaning my workroom I came across this pair of angel candlesticks.  One of my saved for the future projects I had forgotten about.

I liked the shape but not the color.  There was a bit of white wash but still too much gold tone for my tastes.

So I am painting them with chalk paint.  I couldn't decide if I was going to use pink or white.
I decided to go with the white first.

I went with a combination of both.  Here is a picture of just the white paint on one of them.

First I painted the entire piece off white and then mixed some of the white with pink to create a blush color that I used on the high areas to give them an overall blush color.  I let that dry.

Next I mixed a little pearl acrylic paint with alcohol in a mister and sprayed the areas I wanted to give a very slight sheen to.

I had a really hard time photographing these to show the blush color I ended up with, they are actually as softer shade of blush pink in person . No matter the lighting or background I just couldn't get a true color.

They have a very soft pink tint.

I am afraid I need to get to bed since I ended up working on these after dinner and then took pictures.

Hallie is sitting here looking at me with that look of "why are you still up" I want you to go to bed so I can cuddle for awhile before I start my night antics.  If you have a cat you know what I mean.  They don't sleep at night.  For them it is time to play.

Here are the finished pieces.

EZ Shabby Paper Angel's Wings

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.  I hope you are all enjoying the day with good food and good family and friends.  Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Every year I know it is Autumn just looking out my front door at my neighbors tree.  It has the most spectacular red color.

Now for today's post.
I have been seeing angel wings everywhere.  I really like them but have no room for a large set of wings.

I decided to make a small set of wings out of paper using paper pattern tissue, cardstock and scrapbook paper.

I began by drawing out my wings on cardstock, cut them out then cut my pattern paper tissue into strips about 2 inches wide and as long as I could make them.

Using my hot glue gun I began at the bottom of the wings gluing in rows and pleating as I went to make ruffles.

At the top center I add a medallion of crepe paper first then added a handmade pink crepe paper flower edged with silver glitter and a clear rhinestone .

Next I highlighted the ruffles with white gesso and distressed the edges with brown distress ink.

The back side I covered with scrapbook paper then added seam binding to hang the wings.

These measure about 10'" X 12".
