Snowman Painting

We are all in the "Holiday Spirit" now that we are back on dry land.  Hawaii was great but the temperature difference is a shocker.  It is much colder here than when we left.  Not in paradise any longer that's for sure.  More like frost and cold.

Finally have time to decorate the house.  Unpacking always seems to take longer than packing, with all the laundry and getting the house back to life.  Not to mention going to pick up my assistant, Hallie, from the sitter.

So, now I will be concentrating on Christmas, as time is short.

I felt I needed a snowman, brought out the paints and here is the result.

I thought I would show you my sketch first.

I have decided to use a lot of blue for my holiday decorating this year. Mr. Snowman should fit right in with my theme.

I also added a little Stickles glitter glue when I finished and the painting was dry just to give the painting a little sparkle. I used the sparkle on the snowman, his hat and the snowflakes.  In the final painting I decided to go with just the word "SNOW".

Now he co ordinates with my Santa painting the has the word "SANTA" down the left side.

Merry Santa Painting

 I hope you are all getting in the Holiday spirit.  Crafting time is in full swing around here.

Time to decorate the house and yard, too.  I haven't decided on a color theme for my holiday decorating yet this year.  I usually pack things together before I put away the ornaments the previous year with my theme for the next year.  Last year, for some reason, I didn't do that.  Now, I will have to wait for the inspiration to strike.

I was cruising Pinterest the other day and came across several Santa images.  That gave me the inspiration to paint a Santa for our house.

I have a spot where I switch out the art work each season.  So now out with the pumpkin and up goes Santa.  The pink flower adds just enough Shabby Chic to fit into my decor.

Fall Pumpkin Painting

Sharing another Fall painting.

I love turquoise and pinks.  Love the soft shabby chic colors of pastels, laces and vintage items, collectibles and antiques.  

With that in mind I painted this non traditional colored pumpkin to go with my favorite color pallet.

My Recent Pear Painting

We recently went to my husband's family reunion.  It was good to see all the family.  Our hosts have a pear orchard so I painted this pear for my hostess gift.  Each reunion I try to find them a unique pear.  This is this year's gift.  Had a lot of fun painting this one.  Makes me think maybe I will paint a series.  Something like pear, apple maybe grapes.  I will have to give that some thought.

Shabby Chic Doll Cradle

This was a great find at a local community garage sale.  It needed a little work to make it sturdy again. It was priced at $5.00, not bad.

First I removed the bottom piece of plywood and padded it with some light fiber fill batting and covered it with a piece of a tiny pink rosebud print fabric.

Glued all the loose parts and gave it a coat of homemade white chalk paint.

Found a pretty rose print on Pinterest and with Mod Podge glued it to the headboard and coated the print with more Mod Podge.

Added a little metal crown to the headboard.

On the top of each bed post I glued a vintage clear glass button for a little bling.  A girl can never have enough bling.

A little sunshine in my day

A few days ago the fires in California where raging so much and the smoke was so heavy everything looked sad. So, I painted myself a happy little sunflower to brighten my day.

I feel for all those who lost homes and life in the fire area.  I pray for their healing and recovery. The fires raged through my beloved Gold Rush County, blackening the beautiful terrain I spent my youth exploring.  I hope the area can make a speedy recovery.

 Starting last night rain began to fall on water starved California.  It is such a welcome site.  It is still raining this morning.  What a wonderful site and smell.  Almost forgot how nice the air smells during and after a rain.

Witches Hat Painting.

Here's a witches hat I painted for Halloween. It is about 11" x !6".   I used acrylic paint.  Thought I needed something bright for my wall this year.

Hope everybody had a good weekend.  Looks like we have a cloudy sky tonight for the lunar eclipse. Bummer.
