2017 Calendars

I always like to look in the cute boutique gift shops when I go shopping.  But the prices are usually more than I want to spend.

One item I always admire are the calendars. But $20.00 or $30.00 dollars is more than I want to spend for something I am going to toss away at year's end.

So a couple of years ago I decided to start making my own.  This coming year is the same as 1899.  I googled 1899 and came up with one I wanted to make to stand on my desk.

And found another one to make on Wings of Whimsy site.

For the desktop 4 panel calendar I printed the four panels and a 12 month calendar sized to fit on the back.

I cut each piece out and scored the panels, then glued the calendar to the backside of the panels and folded along the score lines.

I sprayed the front with a clear shimmer mist, added a few bronze colored stickles accents and it is ready to stand nicely on my desk.

I also accented the boats with clear Wink of Stella.

Overall measurement is approx. 11" x 6"

Next came the 6 page calendar, each page has 2 months.

I began by printing each image out sized to 5" X 7" on a full sheet of card stock on my laser printer.  Using a ruler I tore the borders off just where the printing ended making the page long and narrow with 3 torn edges and a smooth cut top edge.

The torn edges and the top I aged with distress ink.

Next I sprayed each page with shimmer mist and highlighted parts of each page with one of the Winks of Stella pens in clear, silver or gold.

Next I highlighted parts of each image with co ordinating Stickles.

And finally I added a few bling jewels in matching colors to each page.

I will punch two holes at the top of each page and thread a piece of seam binding through the holes to hang my new old calendar.

I have one more calendar to make that I downloaded and printed from Shabby Art Boutique site.

Happy Crafting!
